This mask came in a sample or tester box of 7 different masks.  The set was called "My Scheming 7 Days Hydrating Mask Set (7 piece)".  I purchase this set on sasa.com for $8.60.

This was the first My Scheming masks I've used. From the sample box of 7 I happened to pick this one first, for no particular reason. First thing I have to say is this mask reminds me of the My Beauty Diary line masks. Both have very cute packaging and both have similar masks quality.

For who can't see what I had written on the back of the package here's a type up version below.
 

Description on box: The deep sea water is extracted from the deep ocean water which is under 800-ft sea level with negative pressure. The deep ocean water involves 60 minerals and microelements, which sizes are similar to the water in our body. Therefore, it is easy to be absorbed by our skin and promote metabolism. The nutrients of the mask penetrate into and be sunk by skin. It has good effects on maintaining long-term skin moisture, activating skin, and give you a pure and jade-like skin with brightness and lightness.

 

 

Ingredients: Deep ocean water, xanthan gum, 1-3 butylene gylcol, glycerin, cucumber extract, allantoin, dipotassium glycyrrhetinante, sodium hyaluronate, sodium pca, methyl parabenm sorbeth-30, methlysothiazolinone, perfume.

 

 

Directions: After cleansing, remove pearl paper and place the mask over your face. Press it lightly onto your face. Leave on for about 15-20 minutes. Remove the mask. Pat and leave for essence absorption.
 

I like how there's actually ENGLISH on this packaging. You know exactly what you're using and how to use the masks. Unlike the My Beauty Diary masks EVERYTHING is in Chinese.

There was really no scent for this mask. I used masked for 30 minutes. This mask was very moisturizing. It was very cooling and relaxing too. There was TONS of essence left over too. So of course all essence is massaged onto my neck and arms. And one thing I want to note is this mask is a little thinner than the My Beauty Diary Mask.

Dermal Cucumber Collagen Essence Mask

I brought a bunch of Dermal masks at a Hmart last week. Hmart is a supermarket that specializes in providing Asian foods. Some stores even sell small appliances and beauty products. So before I left the market I noticed on display that there's a deal on all their Dermal masks.  It's originally $0.99 and it is now for $0.80. I'm not sure how much they are usually online but I thought it was a pretty good deal and got some.

As you can see I got:

• Pomegrante (2)
• Apricot
• Cucumber
• Green Tea
• Aloe

I wasn't planning to keep them all.  I gave these three to my mom.

And these three to my sister.

I tried my first Dermal mask last Sunday. I chose to use cucumber first since my face felt kind of dry I wanted something moisturizing and smoothing.

This mask has lots of essence. It has no plastic lining. They probably left that lining out to cut cost and also there wasn't really a need for it since this mask is much thicker compared to other higher quality masks.


I find that this mask is wide. It fit my face but there was a small part of my forehead that wasn't covered. I like how this mask has eye flaps though. You can smell the cucumber sent. It was pretty noticeable scent but wasn't overwhelming. I did enjoy the scent. After I took off the mask I did notice that the mask was very moisturizing and in some ways it had brighten my complexion a little bit. There was one thing I really did not like though...This mask left a very thick sticky residue. I thought it might just take some time to just absorb but it took forever. I actually feel asleep waiting for the stickiness to go away. When I washed my face in the morning I feel there was still a layer of something lingering on my face.

So how to I feel about this mask?  It's ok but most likely would not be repurchasing them.  I wonder if it's just this particular mask that leaves this film or if they are all like that.  My mother who tried two of the masks also said she did not like it.  She could tell that it's a cheaper quality mask and it had given her a little irritation which made her face slightly red.

My Beauty Diary Royal Jelly Sheet Mask Review

Finally, my first purchase of sheet masks arrived. The one I'm going to talk about today is the My Beauty Diary Royal Jelly masks. I purchased them from sasa.com. The current list price was $13.20 USD but I received a 10% discount so I ended up paying $11.90. The 10% promotion is still on if anyone is interested in purchasing them. The deal ends this coming August 14. The box was wrapped with thin plastic. I believe Royal Jelly is one of their newer type masks from that line. I guess the new sticker on the upper left hand side of the box also confirms it. :)

The mask has a very faint scent to it. It’s a sweet (honey) floral scent. I like the smell a lot. The scent is so light it doesn't overwhelm you like the last mask I've tried (http://beautyfornewbies.blogspot.com/2012/08/silk-whitia-aromatherapy-facial-mask.html). The mask was also packed with a lot of essence. And the quality of the mask holds it in so well that there's no dripping. Just love it!



The mask is folded. It's lined with a plastic. This plastic helps prevent the mask from bunching up and getting damaged.  

So just separate the two pieces and place the cotton sheet mask on your face. The plastic which has lingering essences you rub it on your neck, chest, and maybe even arms. Why waste the good stuff right?

I left the mask on for 30 minutes. I gave my face a cooling effect. It also tingled a little. I'm not sure if it's because my face was very dry from being out in the sun all day yesterday. My skin felt super moisturized after I took my mask off. I also noticed that it had brighten up my face and made my skin smoother too. It did leave my face with a sticky film and it took a while before the stickiness went away. That's probably because of all that extra essence that's stuck onto my skin when I took off the mask. I don't mind it though...since it did go away after my skin completely absorbed it in.

Next day I my skin remain brighten and smooth. Now how great is that?

I do like this mask and I will buy again once I run out. Anyone out there had tried this mask? Please let me know how you guys like it or if there's any other recommendations you guys might have. Since I'm a newbie with these sheet masks I'm always looking for suggestions on what's good out there so I can try them out.

What are sheet masks?

They are a soft and thin paper masks that's presoaked in something called essence or sometimes they are called gel. Each mask is usually individually packed. Some might come in small boxes like wet wipes. All you do is you take the mask out of its packing and carefully place it on your face. There are openings for your eyes, nose, and mouth so you would use those to help line up the mask. There's a bunch of different kind of masks. So depending on what your skin needs you can pick from collagen, hydrating, whitening, lifting, or calming. There might be more out there that I might have missed. And depending on the brands you can leave them on from 10 to 30 minutes. I've read from other bloggers that some would leave them on for hours. But of course you do this on your own risk. The company would not give a time frame to use these masks for no reason right? Since I've just started using these masks I don't see any long term effects from them yet but I do feel cool and refreshed after using them. A sheet mask, again depending on the brands, can range from $1-6 US dollars each. And sometimes if you catch a sale it might be less.

The first mask I've tried is from My Beauty Diary. It's a Taiwanese mask. Since my sister gave this mask to me I don't know exactly how much it was purchase at. I know for sure it's under $2 USD. The mask I used was called Japanese Cherry Blossom Mask. The packaging is extremely pink and cute. I've heard that this mask is one of My Beauty Diary's best sellers.

Since this was my first mask I don't really have anything to compare it to. The mask was very sturdy. It's not extra thin that makes it hard to manage. There's a lot of essence in it. Not too much that it would drip but enough that it keeps the mask in place so it doesn't slip off. Everywhere but there's enough that you can use the extra lingering in the package to massage it around your chin and neck area (I hate to be wasteful).

After using this mask my skin feels much moisturized. It did brighten my skin a little but I noticed it was just a short term effect. Maybe if I use this mask on a regular basis it would brighten my skin more. This mask was very cooling and relaxing. Did I mention the fragrance of it? It's a light Cherry Blossom floral smell. Just love it. Overall I like this mask. It's affordable and it has elements that you would want in an everyday mask. It brightens the skin and that's also good for anti-aging. I would recommend this mask to you.
